On July 28, 2023, at The City Supermarket in Yen My district, Hung Yen province, an impactful awareness conference was held to launch the movement: “Say no to disposable plastic products and non-biodegradable plastic bags”. This movement is a significant part of the project: “Say no to plastic waste and plastic bags at convenience stores, supermarkets, shopping centers, and people’s markets” in Hung Yen, a project that spans the 2021 – 2025 period. The conference saw active participation from various stakeholders, including businesses, management agencies, and owners of convenience stores, supermarkets, shopping centers, and people’s markets in the province. Notably, factories and businesses manufacturing environmentally friendly plastic products were also in attendance. Among them, Hung Yen Factory No.1 (Stavian Chemical Factory), a key player under Stavian Packaging, was highlighted as a leading factory in producing and supplying eco-friendly plastic products. These products have earned the trust of millions of Vietnamese households, significantly impacting the community.
At the Conference, delegates were presented with data on plastic waste pollution in Hung Yen province compiled from various reporting sources. Accordingly, based on the amount of domestic waste generated in Hung Yen per day in 2021 and the proportion of plastic and nylon waste in the National State of Environmental Report of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in 2019 (3.4%-10.6%), the amount of plastic and nylon waste generated in Hung Yen in 2021 was about 17,023 – 53,072 tons per year.
Given the current plastic waste situation in Hung Yen province, environmental experts shared information on the harmful effects of plastic bags and solutions to minimize the use of non-degradable plastic bags. Also, supermarket owners and small businesses signed a commitment not to use disposable plastic products and non-biodegradable plastic bags at local supermarkets, shopping centers, and convenience stores in Hung Yen province.
As one of the factories participating in this Conference, Stavian Packaging discussed the harmful effects of non-degradable plastic bags and brought a series of environmentally friendly plastic products such as biodegradable garbage bags, biodegradable food bags, and biodegradable gloves… These products contain biodegradable ingredients, which help plastic bags decompose in the natural environment within three years under appropriate conditions, while regular plastic bags take hundreds of years to decompose.
Stavian Packaging wishes to expand biodegradable products to convenience stores, supermarkets, shopping centers, and people’s markets, helping to create a green environment in Hung Yen province in particular and 63 provinces and cities nationwide in general with the commitment to:
– Manufacture and provide high-quality, reasonably priced, environment-friendly plastic products;
– Assist businesses, organizations, and individuals in the use of environment-friendly plastic products;
– Propagate to raise public awareness about environmental protection.
